Over the past 5 years we have accomplished so much together: from planting and distributing hundreds of trees to learning from and collaborating with hundreds of residents. Together, we have begun to transform how residents, developers, and elected officials think about, care for, and advocate for Boston’s trees. Click the button below to read our 2022 annual report, "Growing Tree Equity". 

Our first annual Teen Tree Summit on June 10 was a huge success! The event highlighted the work of several youth programs in Boston: The BOLD Teens, The Boston Nature Center & Wildlife Sanctuary, Eastie Farm, Alternatives for Community and Environment (ACE), and The Food Project. We met for an afternoon full of guest presentations, youth-led workshops, and information tabling to discuss how youth are getting involved locally with urban forestry efforts.

Celie is most passionate about working with and supporting youth. She feels a particular interest in doing so in connection with the outdoors—empowering youth with the tools to make a change in their communities and the greater environment. A junior at Tufts studying Child Development and Cognitive & Brain Sciences, she also enjoys playing the ukelele and ultimate frisbee and drawing stick figures for people. She encourages people to enjoy the outdoors however makes sense for them and aims to lead with the motto “I am so glad that exactly you are here."

Dandre Green is a 24-year-old graduate of the first cohort of the PowerCorpsBOS. From landscaping the Emerald Necklace, to pruning and mulching the Arnold Arboretum, Dandre has long been cleaning up the urban wilds around the City of Boston. While doing so, he spoke alongside Mayor Michelle Wu and Chief Mariama White-Hammond about the Forestry Division as a new job opportunity for the city. In his free time, you can find him at the football field, gym, and basketball courts enjoying the breeze and staying PLANTED with his local roots!

Victoria is a first-generation American, a college student, and environmentalist from Brooklyn, NY. She is a senior at the University of Vermont majoring in Environmental Studies and minoring in Agroecology. She interned at SFTT during fall 2022 and has just returned as a summer team leader. As someone who grew up in a low-income community in Brooklyn, she is passionate about improving urban environmental equity for underserved communities. Victoria speaks fluent Polish and is currently learning French. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, painting, poetry, gardening, and bird watching.

Anna is a junior at UC Berkeley majoring in Conservation and Resource Studies, with a focus on urban sustainability. She is originally from Boston, and excited to be spending her summer taking care of Boston’s urban tree canopy and connecting with the city’s youth. In her free time, she enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, walking her dog, and traveling to new places. Anna’s favorite tree is the weeping willow. Anna was also a teen member in the 2020 program. She's excited to be back!
