Weeks 1 and 2 of our summer Teen Urban Tree Corps program Speak for the Trees' TUTC teens have been off to a great start watering Dorchester's Street trees. These trees have been so appreciative of the care, love, and attention that they deserve. We wanted to applaud their amazing work and also thank all our partners and funders in supporting their work. The teens' work helps these trees thrive and grow, allowing them to provide shade for generations to come. Teens began their summer with various training sessions that included tree ID, safe fire hydrant use, tree biology, and tree care. These first two weeks have also included field trips that have provided them with hands-on educational opportunities on a variety of topics. The teens were introduced to a diversity of tree species at Arnold Arboretum, got to practice identifying trees at the Boston Common, and were introduced to tree maintenance and care at Post Office Square Park. We look forward to the continued expansion of their knowledge and experiences as the summer continues!
