Welcome to the Teen Urban Tree Corps (TUTC) Summer 2024!
The teens are divided into three crews: Tree Care, Research, and Outreach. Our main goal is to promote tree health and educate the community about the significance of trees.
During the first week, we visited the Arnold Arboretum, where we gained insights into the park's biodiversity and learned about conserving tree species and creating compost from Anna Maria Caballero, the outdoor educator. We also explored the Solar Meadows, identified various trees, and ended the trip with a group photo. Additionally, we participated in the session at White Stadium taught by the Women's Tree Climbing Workshop, which was an engaging and educational experience. We also had a wonderful trip to George’s Island, sponsored by Save the Harbor, Save the Bay, where we learned about the island's history and enjoyed fishing. Overall, TUTC has been a rewarding experience, allowing us to not only care for trees but also engage in valuable learning opportunities and outdoor adventures. We are looking forward to our next upcoming adventures! |
