"Books about Trees" at Brookline Booksmith

Thank you to Brookline Booksmith for supporting our tree giveaway events. Brookline Booksmith is an independently run, family-owned bookstore that has been in the heart of Coolidge Corner in Brookline for 60 years. We are grateful that we share a love for trees and a desire for Boston's urban tree canopy to grow!

During October and November, they are celebrating the entwined relationship between books and trees. They have created a beautiful collection called “Books about Trees” in which they celebrate the wonder of trees.

Now is the perfect time to find a book amongst the collection so that you can cozy up and learn about how trees protect and nurture us!

Opening Celebration at "The Rocks at Harbor Way"

Last night we were part of the opening of "The Rocks at Harbor Way" to celebrate the planting of dozens of new trees in the Seaport. The Rocks park is a part of the Harbor Way project, which will be a one-third-of-a-mile pedestrian promenade designed to bring increased connectivity and open space to the Seaport neighborhood. It also includes a grove of "Singing Trees" that provide live-streaming music for the space.

Our Executive Director spoke of the importance of this pocket park and Boston's newest arboreal members. Thank you WS Development and others for inviting us and in sharing in our commitment to Tree Equity in Boston.

As part of this partnership, we are working with corporate Delta Air Lines who share our vision around sustainability. As part of the Seaport Singing Trees program, Delta will be donating $20,000 to Speak for the Trees Boston to support our Teen Urban Tree Corps program, further enabling us to engage underserved teens around the city and foster their love of trees!

More trees coming to East Boston

We're thrilled to see more trees heading out to East Boston! Our friends over at TreeEastie will be planting a dozen trees in the Eagle Hill Neighborhood and 9 fruit trees at The Rockies. We're super excited to be supporting this important community work and look forward to seeing these trees take root in the coming months and provide shade, respite, and fresh fruit to local residents.
