Congrats to Newly-Elected Mayor Michelle Wu

Congratulations to Michelle Wu on her election victory last night. In 2019 we had the pleasure of hosting her and other city councilors at our Teen Urban Tree Corps program. We look forward to working closely with her and her administration in building an equitable urban forest focused on the values of justice, inclusion, and diversity.

Today, alongside our partners at Conservation Law Foundation, GreenRoots, and other EJ groups, we sent Wu a letter titled "Recommendations to Center Climate and Environmental Justice in Mayor-Elect Wu’s First 100 Days". It includes a request for issues related to trees, including a call to "create a more inclusive, proactive, and engaged stewardship platform that incentivizes residents to request and care for public shade trees." You can read the full letter here.

Updates from this past week....
Finding new roots

We love seeing all the images you have shared with us of the trees you have gotten at our events! Thank you for sharing and providing a new home for them to take root in. Keep sending them to us at [email protected] and make sure to follow us on Twitter to see what others have shared.

Thank you Franklin Park Zoo

Thank you to the Franklin Park Zoo for inviting us to participate in their Zoo Howl event. We are very grateful for the 300+ people who stopped by to learn more about trees and we loved sharing our leaf rubbing activity!

BC High Tree Planting

On Friday, October 29th, we planted a river birch with a group of seventh graders at BC High School. We loved to watch them learn how to care for a tree and were excited to hear them want to learn more about the different kinds of trees, how they grow, and how they help people feel better.
