One of her names is Nookomis, my grandmother. Come learn about this amazing being from speaker Wendy Geniusz, Professor of Ojibwe Language at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Join us to learn about a health and racial equity analysis of the Boston urban canopy led by SFTT MassCEC Intern and Simmons University Grad Student Roxanne James! During this event, you’ll come to understand the environmental conditions that lead to negative health outcomes for people of color and lower-income communities in the city of Boston and the greater Boston area.

Join writers Fay Ferency, Jess Rizkallah, and Letta Neely as they read aloud their nature and tree-centered poetry and guide participants in a brief poetry writing workshop. Participants will then have the opportunity to head outdoors, craft their own tree-inspired poetry, and share their creations with the rest of the group, all alongside the assistance of the writers.

We would like to thank Brookline Booksmith for partnering with us for Arbor Week. They will be sharing information about our mission at their store, and we are in love with the postcard they've designed (pictured left) that includes the following poem:

"We love trees. 
 
Trees are noble, beautiful,
and promote well-being.
They protect us, filter our air and

Books and trees are entwined; 
as we honor books,
we must nurture trees."

We would also like to thank Cambridge Naturals. From Friday April 29 through Sunday May 1st, they will be donating 5% of sales from their Brighton location to us in support of our mission.
