Arbor Week by the Numbers
Sharing in the power of trees all week throughout Boston

People

With the support and collaboration of numerous organizations, Speak for the Trees’ 2022 Arbor Week Celebration was a huge success. We engaged with hundreds of residents, gave away hundreds of trees, planted dozens more - all in the celebration of Arbor Day.... together. Thank you to the over 300 who joined us in person and the hundreds of others who engaged.

Events

During Arbor Week, Speak for the Trees hosted 6 in-person events, helped organize or attend an additional 5 in person events and hosted 3 virtual events where we shared the importance of Tree Equity with over 320 Boston community members.

Trees

Most importantly, we dispersed over 1,000 seedlings to 18 organizations who gave away these seedlings to patrons and directly gave 75 saplings away to community members. With the help of community members we planted 19 trees in Mission Hill and thanks to Erica Holm and Boston’s Tree Warden Max Ford-Diamond, our youth helped plant 10 trees at Franklin Park.

Thanks to everyone who made Arbor Week 2022 possible!

Over the course of the week we raised nearly $25,000 during our week’s worth of events, including through a community Walk-a thon, partnerships with local stores including Cambridge Naturals, The Brookline Booksmith, and Newtonville Books, and corporate sponsorships.

A special thank you to our corporate partners Natixis, WS Development, Eastern Bank, ESEN (ESEN is an employee network of State Street Corporation), ArborWay Tree Care, John Hancock, and Cityside Subaru.
