The effect of the drought on trees
Did you know that insects can hear a thirsty tree?

This past summer, much of the New England region received less than half the usual amount of precipitation. Prolonged, repeated heat waves combined with very little rain caused extensive harm to trees. The impacts of the drought are visible right now with many trees losing their leaves earlier this fall or leaves browning out completely rather than changing color.

SFTT to receive 2022 Gold Leaf Award from the New England ISA

Speak for the Trees is honored to receive the ISA Gold Leaf award from the New England Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture. The award will be given on Monday, October 2nd, at the organization's Annual Conference & Trade Show in Framingham.

The ISA Harry J. Banker Gold Leaf Award recognizes individuals, organizations, and communities for either outstanding Arbor Day activities or for outstanding landscape beautification activities which have had a significant, sustained impact upon a community or region.

The award will be presented to Speak for the Trees' Executive Director, David Meshoulam, in recognition of the organization's efforts to expand tree canopy coverage in Boston through tree planting and community outreach events.

SFTT Staff Wins Pho Eating Contest at Open Streets Dorchester

Congrats to our Education Coordinator, Joshua Reed, for taking home the prize at Pho Le's pho eating contest last weekend. We were lucky enough to table across the street from the restaurant and got to watch Josh compete.
