Through all of its twists and turns, 2020 was a busy year for Speak For The Trees Boston. We hosted our Teen Urban Tree Corps program, gave away hundreds of trees, advocated with the Friends of Melnea Cass Boulevard, and much more. 50 Years of Friends: Memories, Moments, and Milestones
April 30th from 6:30pm

Our friends at the Friends of the Public Garden are turning 50! Celebrate a half century of parks care of the Boston Common, Public Garden, and Commonwealth Avenue Mall. Hear about the restoration of Boston's three parks in the heart of downtown from being almost beyond saving to where they are today, and see lots of fun videos of life in the parks over the ages!

Come get a free sapling at Savor The Square on May 1st! Speak For The Trees will be hosting a tree giveaway as a part of our Arbor Week events. A huge thank you to our partners for making this event possible!

Guided Tree Meditation 2
May 1st from 3:00pm - 2:00pm

This guided tree meditation offers an opportunity to connect and ground the self with the environment.

Attendance is limited to 10, so please only register if you can attend. This event will be held at the Arnold Arboretum, socially distanced. Masks required.

Boston Public Library Resources

An amazing compilation of tree and environmental justice resources has been added to the Boston Public Library's Research Guides page. The Speak For The Trees library guide includes tree reading recommendations, species identification and care guides, digitized resources, and much more! A huge thank you to our partners at the Boston Public Library for making this wealth of information available to all.

Massachusetts Nonprofit Network Excellence Award Finalist

We're humbled to have been selected as a finalist for the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network 2021 Excellence Awards in the Small Nonprofit category. We are so honored to be considered for this award alongside so many fantastic organizations. We hope to continue to work towards an equitable, healthy urban forest in Boston and are excited to use this opportunity to celebrate and share our work. The awards will be held virtually on June 23rd, 2021. We'll keep you posted.

Community Outreach Manager

The Full-time Community Outreach Manager will help to expand our mission of Tree Equity to Boston by bringing our programs to under-resourced and under-canopied neighborhoods of Boston.

Program Coordinator, Teen Urban Tree Corps 2021

Working under the direction of SFTT’s staff, the TUTC Program Coordinator will have primary responsibility of managing the TUTC program. For approximately 25 hours per week, the Program Coordinator will supervise TUTC youth in the field or at events. An additional 5-10 hours per week will be spent assisting SFTT staff program development, curriculum planning, program evaluation, and/ or networking opportunities. The Coordinator will be required to complete 2-3 weeks of training in June in advance of TUTC launch in early July.

Team Leader, Teen Urban Tree Corps

Working under the direction of SFTT’s staff and the TUTC Program Coordinator, the TUTC Team Leader will supervise the TUTC participants. For approximately 20 hours per week, the Team Leader will work with and oversee a 4-5 person group of teens. An additional 5-10 hours per week will be spent assisting the Program Coordinator with planning curriculum and preparing material. The Team Leader will be required to complete 1 week of training in June in advance of the beginning of the program.

Participant, Teen Urban Tree Corps

We’re looking to hire 12-20 teens to be part of this year’s Teen Urban Tree Corps program. The program will run for 6 weeks starting in early July. Details: 25 hours per week at $13.50 / hour.
