We are so happy to finally welcome our 20 TUTC teens this summer! They'll be learning about the importance of trees, gaining skills in urban forestry, and advocating for trees in their neighborhood. The program started off with an activity developed by the Right Question Institute for teens to ask questions about the importance of our urban forest. The most important question: "What are the benefits of Boston's urban forest and for whom?" And on Wednesday, Mariama White-Hammond, Chief of Energy, Environment, and Open Space, spoke about environmental justice in Boston and the importance of Boston's urban forest in building a resilient and healthy city. Today the teens head to the Arnold Arboretum and on Friday they do a scavenger hunt in Fields Corner.
Keep an eye out for these teens as they explore the streets, trees, and parks of Boston. |
