Fall Wrap-Up

It's been a busy month here at Speak for the Trees. Yesterday we planted over 40 trees in Dorchester and the week before we gave away 40 more in Allston. As we wrap up our season of tree plantings, we wanted to take a moment to thank all of our partners and supporters. After a busy fall - tree giveaway in Roxbury in early October through yesterday's tree planting - we're catching our breath and reflect as we head into the holiday season.

We hope you can join us on November 30th as we come together - in person and virtually - to celebrate our work from 2022. Together, we are building a greener and healthier city for all.

Tree Planting event Harambee Park
44 trees were planted with support from PowerCorps, Boston Parks, Salesforce, and American Forests

With support from Salesforce and Bank of America, and in partnership with Boston Parks and Recreation, PowerCorps Boston, and American Forests, yesterday we planted 46 trees in Dorchester's Harambee Park. The park, located along Blue Hill Ave, is an active recreation and community gathering space with a tennis center and a Boys and Girls Club.

The trees planted on Wednesday consisted of a variety of maples, tupelos, dogwoods, and oaks and were planted to increase the tree canopy in a redlined environmental justice neighborhood, meeting two of priority indicators in Boston's new urban forest plan.

Thank you to all the local community members, Salesforce, and PowerCorps volunteers who spent the day with us learning and digging together. We couldn't have done it without you!

Oct 29 Giveaway in Allston-Brighton

On Saturday, October 29th, we held our final tree giveaway of 2022. This event was sponsored by Stop&Shop, co-hosted with Allston Brighton Tree Alliance, and held at Artisan's Asylum. We gave away over 40 trees to some very excited local residents to plant in their private yards. Allston has one of the lower tree canopy coverages in the city and with its narrow streets sometimes yards are the only places trees can go. As they grow and mature, these trees will provide respite, shade, and beauty to the neighborhood.
