About the Fellowship
Through this 11-month fellowship, SFTT provides an emerging professional in the field of urban forestry with the requisite qualifications, skills, and experiences to pursue a career in urban forestry. Over the course of the 11-month fellowship, the fellow will:
- Assist in and carry out 50-100 tree plantings using proper ISA techniques;
- Provide ongoing tree care to approximately 150 trees over the course of the year (regular watering, pruning, mulching);
- Develop, coordinate, and direct community education programs about trees and tree care;
- Enroll in 2-4 courses on forestry and related subjects;
- Learn about opportunities in the field of urban forestry through mentorship with professionals in the field.
Fellows receive a salary, benefits, and hands-on training. They are also required to take courses in urban forestry and lead a community-based project.
