    We have numerous lesson plans for teachers interested providing lessons on tree equity and the importance of urban trees. These lessons all align to BPS standards.   • Learning Opportunities Offered by Our Staff

    In addition to our classroom-based lessons designed for teachers to meet school standards, we also provide opportunities led by the SFTT Education staff. These opportunities include outdoor lessons, hands-on care activities, and field trips to green spaces. The activities below can be adapted to be offered to all grade levels.

  • Boston Urban Forest Friends (BUFF)

    Boston Urban Forest Friends (BUFF) began in 2019 as way to reinvigorate urban forestry work in Boston. BUFF is a coalition of organizations, community groups, and individuals focused on increasing partnerships and collaboration around growing Boston’s urban canopy. BUFF meet monthly on zoom.

  • Community Tree Walks

    Our Community Tree Walks program is to educate residents about the importance of urban trees and creating self-guided community tree walks for anyone who wants to get outside and explore some of the notable members of our urban canopy.

    Tree Equity Matters

    Urban trees are a critical asset to cities: they sequester carbon, reduce energy usage, remove air pollutants, filter stormwater, and cool hot city streets by providing shade and releasing water vapor.
