BUFF (Boston Urban Forest Friends) Symposium

Come join us for our 4th Annual BUFF Symposium: Healing our Land, Healing Ourselves – Connecting Environmental Health to Community Well-Being

Trees are critical to community health. This symposium, co-created by H.E.R.O. Nurturing Center and Speak for the Trees, provides space, time, and opportunity to connect, learn, and share about the importance of trees in communal and individual health. There will be time for open discussion as well as a panel of speaker who will discuss the intersection of environmental justice, public health, and Boston’s urban forest.

  • Dr. Neenah Estrella-Luna – Anti-racism and social equity researcher, educator, and consultant
  • Hessann Farooqi – Executive Director, Boston Climate Action Network
  • Trey Williams – Tree Data Specialist and Senior Engineer at McKesson
  • Melissa Hector, MBA – Director of Equitable and Strategic Initiatives at the Boston Public Health Commission, City of Boston
  • Dr. Jeffrey Perrin – Associate Professor of Psychology, Lesley University
  • Pat Spence – President and CEO, The Urban Farming Institute
  • Dr. Michael A. Curry – Director, Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers
