Join Speak for the Trees and The Food Project as we host a FREE tree giveaway in Dorchester at the West Cottage Street Farm. This budding partnership of trees, youth, food and community brings together two Dorchester based organizations whose work focuses on environmental justice and food equity, a great combination of causes for under resourced communities.
Dorchester is listed as an EJ (environmental justice) community, where tree canopy coverage is at an inequitable level in comparison to other areas in Boston. At Speak for the Trees, we work at the intersection of environmental justice, racial and social equity, public health, and climate change to advocate for a healthy and equitable urban forest in all Boston neighborhoods.
Species include (10 of each tree; 50 trees total): European Hornbeam, Eastern Redbud, Moonglow Magnolia, Flowering Dogwood, Red Maple.
First come, first served.
Boston residents only until 1pm. All residents are welcome to come after 1pm for remaining trees.
