We are collaborating with the Urban Farming Institute (UFI) to host a FREE tree giveaway in Mattapan this Fall, 2025! We will be distributing trees at UFI’s beautiful Norfolk St. Farm. Come pick up a tree to grow a healthier, greener Mattapan!
We will be giving out 40 trees to exclusively Mattapan residents until 1PM. If there are trees left at 1PM, the giveaway will be open to all Boston residents.
The following species are subject to change based on inventory. A finalized species list will be posted one week before the giveaway.

At Speak for the Trees, we distribute young, resilient trees that will thrive in our city. By planting a tree, you become part of a movement to transform Boston into a greener, more equitable city. At these events, every resident has the chance to contribute to the health of Boston’s tree canopy.
Trees will be given out to pre-registered and walk-up attendees on a first come first served basis. Trees are given in containers that weigh about 40 pounds and can be 5-8 ft tall. Recipients will need to bring a vehicle large enough to transport the tree away from the site.
